As a school
boy, my husband, Pieter, went hunting 'dassis' in the
midlands of Natal with his friends, including two Zulu
boys, Bongane and Sipho, and of course, Louis, a short
brown and white Jack Russel.
On a particular Saturday morning they came upon a young
male lynx. Ever the faithfull companion, Louis attacked
the aggrevated Lynx. Everyone tried to call him back,
fearing for his life. In the end Bongane and Sipho ran
away, Patrick took to the Bushman's river, although it
was in the dead of winter and Gert climbed the highest
tree. After what felt like hours, Louis emerged from the
dustcloud, only a few scars, his tail wagging. The lynx
was dead. Such an act of bravery made Pieter decide that
he would defenitely own a Jack Russel one day.
In 1996 we bought our first Jack Russel 'Snappy'. It was
just the start. One followed after the other and it automatically
progressed into breeding with them.
Our whole family is now involved in this breeding programme.
We thoroughly enjoy every one of the dogs in our pack,
each dog has its own unique personality. The flow of puppies
are a constant delight to my two children. They have now
been officially appointed as 'puppy socializers'. This
is a very important aspect of puppy rearing and they are
doing a very good job of it!
It is exactly this attention to each puppy that makes
Lilea Jack Russells loving and unique pets to any new
family. I go through a strict 'adoption policy' for each
of my puppies and screen prospective buyers to ensure
that each of these caring and affectionate individuals
find the perfect home. |
