"He
is more faithfully even than most boasted amongst men; he
is constant in his affection, friendly without interest, and
grateful for the slightest favours; much more mindful of benefits
received..." Oliver Goldsmith, A History o the Earth
and Animated Nature
There are very few differences between
the two coat varieties. Couple that with 'every dog has his
own nature' and it makes it very difficult to lift certain
aspects out from each. Generally Lileas observations
has been, that smooth hair Jack Russeussells very popular
as pets. The wire hair are mostly going to
farms as workers, although 'smooths' have the same hunting
blood in them than that the wire hair dogs. |
HUNTING
SKILLS EXTRAORDINARY
"When
the man waked up he said: 'What is wild dog doing here?' And
the woman said: 'his name is not wild dog any more but First
Friend , because he will be our friend for always an always.
Take him with you when you go hunting'. Rudyard Kipling,
Just so stories.
The first Jack Russells were
bred to hunt for fox, badger and racoon. They have a keen
sense of smell and adding that they are always
ready for action and on their toes, they are mean
hunting machines. Except for the obvious perks of keeping
your premises free from rats and mice, people also use them
these days on hunting farms, for blood trail tracking.
Most of Lileas wire hair pups goes to
farms or hunting farms as 'workers'
Wire hair Dogs tend to be a bit more laid
back than smooth hair and submit easier to other dogs. Having
said that - each dog is different and the tables have been
turned for a few of our pups.
One of Lileas pups, Dingaan found his first
Kudu, 61 inch, at 4 months. Even at this young age they are
very clever and already starts working.
